Perpetuated in Righteousness
Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ʻĀina i ka Pono is the state motto of Hawai and translates to the life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness. Hawaii's state motto was ironically established before it was illegally annexed as a state. Said by King Kamehameha III on July 31, 1843, this motto represents the legacy of the Kingdom of Hawaii and Hawaii's long history and culture before western influence.
