'Ulu also known as breadfruit was a staple in Hawaiian culture. Used not only for food, but also for building and medicine, 'ulu trees had many uses. The 'ulu tree was also a kinolau or body form of the god Kū, representing resilience.
This quilt design is symbolic of the 'ulu fruit and leaves of the breadfruit tree.
